Career Services

The Office of Career & Professional Development offers services to students and alumni of the Shepard Broad Law Center. Contact us for up to date information on upcoming events and workshops.

Some of the services offered include:

  • Career Café Speaker Series:  weekly lunch presentations featuring attorneys from law firms, government agencies, public interest organizations and corporations to speak with students about their legal careers.
  • Career Resource Library: resources ranging from general legal career planning information to employer profiles and contact information.
  • Job Postings: hundreds of summer and permanent opportunities are posted every year. Postings are updated daily, and are advertised for students, 24-hours a day through our web-based job posting and recruiting system, Symplicity.
  • Mentoring: practicing attorney mentors are paired with law students to provide support and encouragement during law school.
  • Mock Interviews:   students can participate in mock interview sessions with members of our staff.
  • National Job Fairs : a number of job fairs are held around the country throughout the year.  Students interested in getting exposure to employers outside of Florida are strongly encouraged to attend these job fairs.
  • On-Campus Interviews : law firms, government agencies, corporations and public interest employers interview students throughout the year.
  • Panels and Programs: scheduled throughout the year and include skills training and practice area information. Often our alumni participate, providing excellent networking opportunities for students.PR
  • Pro Bono Honors Program: Law Students are encouraged to provide public service by volunteering their time to assist indigent and under-represented members of the local community with legal issues.  Law students must work under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Public Interest Law: public interest recruiting, job fairs, post-graduate options and pro bono opportunities are provided for our students.
  • Workshops and Guest Speakers : workshops are held throughout the year on resume and cover letter writing, interviewing and networking skills, job search strategies and other topics.
